Mary F. Lubner Honored for Contributions to Youth Development

Mary Lubner, retired teacher, continues to touch the lives of young people through her involvement with 4-H

CEDARBURG, WI, August 11, 2011 /Sports PR News/ -- Mary F. Lubner has been selected as a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in youth development.

A retired elementary physical education teacher, Ms. Lubner exemplified compassion during the course of a 35-year career. She strove to enrich the lives of countless children through sports, her efforts steered by the sterling example set by her mother, who was also a teacher. Though retired now, Ms. Lubner continues her transformative work through her association with the 4-H Leaders' Association. As a member of the county board, she serves the organization as leader and ambassador both domestically and overseas, and has chaperoned 4-H trips to such faraway locales as South Korea. Ms. Lubner credits much of her own success to her involvement with 4-H as a girl, and today relishes the opportunity to give back and help other young people become productive members of society.

Ms. Lubner completed graduate coursework in physical education and earned a bachelor's degree in physical education in 1969 from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In addition to working for 4-H, she maintains affiliations with the Wisconsin Retired Educators' Association, the Wisconsin Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, the Wisconsin Education Association Council, the Northshore Education Association, the National Education Association, and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Also a member of the United States Taekwondo Association, Ms. Lubner has studied taekwondo for more than 25 years and holds a fifth-degree black belt.

As she moves forward, Ms. Lubner aspires to travel to all 50 states and set foot in Antarctica, the only continent she has not yet visited. She also plans to continue her work for 4-H.
