Martial Arts Master Earns Membership With Stanford Who's Who
Stanford Who's Who welcomes Paul Barker to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of his magnificent work in the Martial Arts.
PROVO, UT, March 26, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who welcomes Paul Barker to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of his magnificent work in the Martial Arts. As the Owner and Master Instructor of Champion Karate West LLC, as well as throughout his incredible 25 years in the business, Mr. Barker has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.
Champion Karate West LLC is a martial arts center which teaches a full range of martial arts including: Taekwondo, kick-boxing, and self-defense classes for women, men, children, teens, and seniors. It is a "Black Belt School" where students train to obtain the rank of black belt. They offer community based programs in the school systems and local businesses. The school is a family martial arts center that firmly believes families should study the martial arts together. They offer family specials under special offers on their website.
Champion Karate West, LLC comes from a school called Champion Karate Inc., located in Gaithersburg, Maryland and is owned and operated by Master Michael Tull. Champion Karate Inc. has have been teaching martial arts since 1982 in the Washington DC area.
Champion Karate West is teaching Taekwondo at Timpanogos Elementary School with the Learning For Life and 4 H programs for 3rd - 6th grades Monday, Wednesday and Friday after school. They have also added ZUMBA with MIA Story on Wednesday and Friday 8-9 PM and Saturday 8-9 AM. They are very excited about the Zumba class. For further details check their website.
Paul is a Black Belt and Tactical Master Instructor who is responsible for managing all major aspects of the business as well as overseeing the daily operations. Master Barker is training under Master Allen Hughes at Kaesung Academy to learn Hapkido. Champion Karate West will offer Hapkido classes in the near future.
Master Barker has trained under Grand Master Jhoon Rhee in Taekwondo; Grandmaster Ki Whang Kim in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan; Master Darrell Ross in Taekwondo; Master Michael Tull in Taekwondo; Master Tom Patire in CDT HOM DO, where Paul is certified as a Tactical Master Instructor and specialized in Family Protection. He received his first 4th degree black belt from Master Michael Tull and is still training under Master Tull today.
Master Barker is a retired Montgomery County Police Officer from Maryland and has taught karate programs to all types of people and groups. He has run a successful karate program for children and adults sponsored by Montgomery county Department of Police, The Montgomery County Department of Recreation, Montgomery County Housing Opportunity Commission and Montgomery County Public Schools since 1985 including the Scotland Karate Program, The 124 Karate Program and the Einstein High School Karate Program.
During his collegiate career, Paul earned an Associate's degree from Ricks College. He is a member of the Black Belt Instructors of United States, Boy Scouts of America, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In the time away from his busy schedule, Paul greatly enjoys camping, hiking, swimming, and sports.
Master Barker has been the recipient of several awards, including "County Executive Certificate" for serving the children of Montgomery County MD and working with the At-Risk children with your karate program from the State of Maryland in 2010; "The Governor's of Merit" for a crime prevention program from the State of Maryland in 2010; United States Secret Service Certificate of Appreciation in 1987; The Bronze Medal of Valor from the Police and Fire Rescue Services Meritorious Award, Montgomery County, Maryland in 1991; Honorable Mention Award from the Police and Fire Service Meritorious Award, Montgomery County, Maryland in 1994; Bernard D. Crooke Jr. Police Community Service Award, Montgomery County, Maryland in 2003; Police Officer of the Year Damascus of the American Legion in 2003; Police Officer of the Year Montgomery County Council of the American Legion Department of Maryland in 2004; Community Policing Award from Montgomery County Housing Opportunity Commission in 2004; Chief's Appreciation Award, Montgomery County Department of Police in 2006; President of the United States Certificate in 2006; Chief's Service Award, Montgomery County Department of Police in 2006; and the Optimist International Law Enforcement Award - National Capital Optimist Club in 2006.
