Ashley eyes 4th World Championship Title

NEW YORK, NY, July 15, 2011 /Sports PR News/ -- Female boxing legend and three-time world champion Alicia "Slick" Ashley brings her graceful moves to the Bronx on Saturday, July 23, 2011 in an effort to capture her 4th world championship.
Promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing, Ashley (16-9-1) will face formidable opponent Christina Ruiz (6-3-1) on the "Knock Out Cancer" boxing show at the Hunts Point Produce Market in the Bronx.
"It would be phenomenal to win my 4th world title, especially in New York with my friends, family and fans lending support in what should be an exciting boxing match," said the 13-year veteran.
Arguably, one of the most talented female boxers in the sport today, the 43-year old lives up to her nickname by displaying sleek and effortless moves in the ring - described by many as 'poetry in motion'.
After more than a year delay, the Brooklynite finally gets a chance to fight for the WBC super bantamweight championship. As the No.1 contender, Ashley looks to make the most of the opportunity by utilizing her experience and "slick" moves over Ruiz.
"This WBC title fight has been a long time coming," said Ashley, "It's a very prestigious title and I am happy to finally be able to prove my worthiness by fighting for it."
In her last outing in Brooklyn on January 19, 2011, Ashley made history by becoming the first woman to headline a professional boxing show in New York. She won in impressive fashion earning an eight-round unanimous decision over Crystal Hoy of Las Vegas, Nevada.
