Memorabilia signed by former Wimbledon champions Federer, Sharapova and Evert is up for grabs at the Masterpiece Midsummer Party in aid of CLIC Sargent
LONDON, ENGLAND, June 24, 2011 /Sports PR News/ -- A tennis racquet signed by six-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer is to be auctioned at this year's Masterpiece Midsummer Party in aid of CLIC Sargent, which will raise money for children and young people with cancer.
A skirt signed by 2004 Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova will join Federer's racquet be auctioned at the Masterpiece Midsummer Party, which takes place at Masterpiece London 2011 on Thursday 30 June. Tennis fans can also get their hands on a racquet signed by tennis legend Chris Evert, who won the ladies title in 1974, 1976 and 1981.
Combining the best of the best in fine and decorative art, contemporary design and entertainment, the Masterpiece Midsummer Party in aid of CLIC Sargent aims to raise GBP300,000 to fund the charity's work across the UK. Guests can also enjoy a private viewing of the works of art on display at Masterpiece London while supporting CLIC Sargent.
CLIC Sargent Patron, and Chair of the organising committee, Lady Helen Taylor commented: "This is a chance for tennis enthusiasts to own a piece of sporting history and help CLIC Sargent, a charity close to my heart, to continue its work supporting children and young people with cancer."
The auction in aid of CLIC Sargent includes a very special 'Up up and away' auction lot -an amazing chance for someone to experience a flight in a two-seater Spitfire! Donated to the charity auction by Masterpiece London and Paul Andrews, this is one of only three original 2-seater Spitfires to have survived, and was flown by HRH The Prince of Wales.
Masterpiece London 2011 takes place from 30 June - 5 July on the South Grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. With over 150 exhibitors, visitors will be able to view and buy the best of the best from the fine and decorative arts, along with premium collectors' items such as contemporary design, fine wine and classic cars.
