Coquitlam Express Struggle Through a Series of Near Misses
A historically strong team, the Coquitlam Express have recently struggled under the weight of a losing streak. They have dropped 8 consecutive games, with 3 of them decided in overtime and 5 of them by a single goal.
COQUITLAM, BC, CANADA, November 17, 2010 /Sports PR News/ -- The Coquitlam Express are still struggling to break their 8-game losing streak after an 8-2 loss to the Westside Warriors on Friday, and a 5-4 loss to the Salmon Army on Saturday. Yet both coach and players are hopeful of setting a new trend starting with Wednesday's game against the Nanaimo Clippers.
In both Friday's game against the Westside Warriors and Saturday's against the Salmon Army, Coquitlam Express held the lead at several times during play. Jason Grecica, Garrick Perry and Malcolm McKinney have all made valiant efforts, but despite these individual efforts the team has struggled to pull together. A fan noted that the Express are "lacking consistency - a win on Wednesday would at least start the long climb back up the rankings".
Coquitlam Express will play the Nanaimo Clippers on Wednesday, and their coach Jon Calvano feels that this will be a good opportunity to improve morale and confidence for the players. "The Clips have 10 players scratched off on the injury list, and they are also coming off the back of a scoreless loss. I'm hopeful that the Express boys can give Wednesday's game a good shot", Mr. Calvano said.
